If you live in Auckland, you probably know the feeling of sitting in traffic while the day slips by. At Longridge, many of our residents used to live that life too. Now, they start their mornings with a cuppa and a view of the Coromandel Ranges.
With new developments and rising density across South Auckland, more people are beginning to ask: is there a better option for retirement? We're hosting a free morning tea and retirement presentation at the Māngere Boating Club, Kiwi Esplanade, Māngere Bridge, on Tuesday 8 July, from 11am to 1.30pm. Whether you're beginning to explore options for yourself or supporting a parent considering a change, this is a great chance to hear real experiences and ask the questions that matter.
Over morning tea, we’ll talk you through what makes Longridge different from the typical retirement setup. You’ll also hear from a local real estate agent, offering practical advice on selling a home and what to think about if you're considering a move away from the city.
Why are so many of our residents leaving Auckland?
There’s more to it than space and scenery. Read the full story here.
For some, it’s the affordability. For others, it’s the lifestyle: spacious single-level villas, real gardens, wide streets, and a community that feels more like a neighbourhood than a complex. There’s a strong social side to village life and you can be as involved as you like.
Take Neale and Sue, for example:

"We visited 27 retirement villages from Whangārei to Christchurch, but none of them offered the lifestyle, space, and quality we were looking for. Then someone suggested Paeroa. We visited Longridge, and everything changed. The villas have real privacy, the designs are well thought out, and the gardens are beautiful. It felt open, welcoming, and different to anything we had seen. It ticked every box, and more we hadn’t even considered. We signed up on the spot. Now we’ve got our dogs, a garden to enjoy, and the freedom to live how we want. The village runs on common sense, not unnecessary rules. The location is ideal too, close to hospitals and great for day trips in our motorhome. We’re not slowing down. We’re part of a real community, and we’re living fully. Longridge is truly unique."
We’d love to see you there. It’s a chance to enjoy morning tea, meet some friendly faces, and hear more about what makes Longridge different.
